Method of Producing axillary shoots from Dicentra × hybrida 'Amore Rose' in vitro (Pat.242706)

Description: This is the first complete report on the micropropagation of Dicentra × hybrida.

The here-developed protocol can be recommended for the large-scale reproduction of this species with possible extension to other members of the Dicentra genus. The advantages of the invention include: - obtaining a significant number of axillary shoots of Dicentra 'Amore Rose' in just 6 - 10 weeks in vitro. In the subsequent multiplication cycles, the number of shoots newly produced increases exponentially, - since the shoots are produced under aseptic conditions, they are of better quality compared to the plants from traditional cultivation, - the fully controlled conditions in the laboratory allow for the production of more uniform plants. Further studies should focus on inducing adventitious organogenesis from leaf explants of the in vitro-derived plant material.
